Heritage project will work through partnerships: Minister


New Delhi, Aug 5 (IANS): Conservation project "National Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana" (HRIDAY) will involve partnerships with different institutions, Culture and Tourism Minister Shripad Yesso Naik informed parliament Tuesday.

A sum of Rs.200 crore was allocated in the union budget to the project aimed at preserving the heritage character of cities like Amritsar, Gaya, Kanchipuram, Vellankani and Ajmer.

"This project will work through a partnership of government, academic institutions and local community combining affordable technologies," the minister said in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha.
