Mangalore, Aug 25: The Karnataka State Cooperative Federation Limited in association with the Dakshina Kannada District Cooperative Limited and Navodaya Grama Vikasa Charitable Trust organised a district-level self-help group co-op membership campaign training programme on Thursday August 24 at the district co-operative bank.
Inaugurating the programme, State Apex Bank president M N Rajendra Kumar informed that Dakshina Kannada district has 10,718 Navodaya Self-help Groups with a membership of 84,588 and urged the government to subsidise the membership of people from backward classes so as to increase the total membership to co-operative societies.
Among those present were Navodaya Grama Vikasa Charitable Trust, Mangalore manager Poornima Shetty; Dakshina Kannada senior co-operative member Peraje Srinivas Rao; Co-operative Societies, Mysore joint registrar Himavath Gopal; Dakshina Kannada Co-operative Union, Mangalore president P B Divakar Rai and Dakshina Kannada District Co-operative Union vice-president Balappa Nayak.
