Beniwal sacked in accordance with Constitution: Naidu

New Delhi, Aug 7 (IANS): Parliamentary Affairs minister M. Venkaiah Naidu Thursday said that the decision to sack Kamla Beniwal as Mizoram governor was taken in accordance with Constitution and there was "no politics in it".

"Action against Kamla Beniwal was taken in accordance with the Constitution and there is no politics in it," Naidu told reporters outside parliament.

He also added that there were "serious allegations" against Beniwal, due to which the government took action.

The Narendra Modi government Wednesday sacked Kamla Beniwal as Mizoram's governor.

Beniwal, 87, who was earlier the governor of Gujarat, was shifted to Mizoram July 6.

Beniwal had a strained relationship with Modi when he was chief minister of Gujarat.
