Daijiworld News Network - Puttur (GA)

Puttur, Aug 26: "Save Tirupati Movement which has been initiated by certain organizations is nothing but a clear move to create rift between Hindu and Christians and cause imbalance in the secular fabric of the society.  These people are not able to see that both the communities share a wonderful bond between themselves," said Puttur Christian Union honorary president Lancy Mascarenhas.

He was speaking at a press conference here on Friday August 25.  He said that Mangalore MP Sadananda Gowda's allegations that Sonia Gandhi has been promoting conversions and that she has appointed 5 Christian chief ministers using her power are baseless.  "Chief minister's post is not bought for money.  It is given purely on merit and in total consensus with the local unit of the party.  It is not becoming to blame one community or society citing one or two reasons," he added.

He also criticized the administration for not arresting Sadananda Gowda and other persons for provocative speech during the 'Save Tirupati Rally’ held recently.  "As a MP he should know that he represents not one religion but the entire society. But it is sad to know that he seems to be promoting his own ideology," he opined.

Union president Walter D'Souza, Francis D'Souza, secretary Anthony D'Cunha and founder member Canute D'Mello were also present at the press conference.
