Rio de Janeiro, Aug 8 (IANS): Robinho is set to make his return for Santos in the Brazilian club's top-flight match against Corinthians Sunday.
The 30-year-old joined his former side Thursday on a year-long loan from AC Milan, reports Xinhua.
Santos coach Oswaldo de Oliveira insisted the winger would be registered in time for Sunday's duel at the Vila Belmiro stadium.
"He is going to play but I don't know if he will start," Oliveira said.
"As soon as he arrives we will start evaluating him. If we feel that he is ready he will play, but I will decide then.
"We are very confident that by tomorrow (Friday) at the latest his name will be registered. We have done everything that has been asked of us. It seems that Milan also has acted in good faith."
Earlier Robinho did not hide his delight at returning to the club made famous by Pele.
"This is my home," he said on Santos' website.
"It's a place where I feel very good and where I came into the world of football. I hope to repay the affection of all the fans on the pitch. I want to put Santos back where they should be, at the very top of the table."
Robinho began his career at Santos and played a key role in the side's the 2002 Brazilian Serie A triumph in his debut season.
He also helped the club to the 2004 league title before being sold to Spanish giants Real Madrid in 2005. The former Brazil international returned on a six-month loan in 2010, guiding the club to the Copa do Brasil title.
