Chennai, Aug 8 (IANS): Japanese automobile major Yamaha Motor Company Friday announced the completion of restructuring of its Indian operations.
In a statement here, Yamaha Motor Company said it has completed the India business organisation restructuring exercise with the restart of Yamaha Motor India Pvt Ltd (YMI) that would be in-charge of Indian operations.
The company will function as the regional headquarters and corporate control body of India business operations for Yamaha Motor Company.
According to the statement, Yamaha Motor CEO and MD of India Hiroyuki Suzuki has been appointed as managing director of YMI, effective from Aug 15.
He will also be the chairman of other Yamaha group companies in the country -- India Yamaha Motor Pvt Ltd (IYM), Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt Ltd (YMIS) and Yamaha Motor Research and Development India Pvt Ltd (YMRI).
Under the current set up, YMI will be responsible for corporate planning and strategy, business planning, business expansion, quality control and regional control of Yamaha India business.
The IYM will be the manufacturing company under the new organisation structure while YMIS and YMRI will continue to independently support IYM for sales and marketing and development of its products respectively.
"The restructuring is part of Yamaha's mid-term plan and is aimed at improving organisational efficiency by enhancing functional focus. The objective of setting up independent vertical for manufacturing, sales and marketing and research and design was to enhance the functional focus, thereby excelling in these three core areas of our business," Suzuki was quoted in the statement.
