Udupi, Aug 26: Hectic preparations are going on for Ganesh Chaturthi here. The bazaars are full of makeshift shops with flowers, lotuses, betelnut flowers (called 'pingara' locally).

Idol getting ready for installation
Citizens are busy buying provisions, vegetables and flowers for the special occasion. Textile shops too have had brisk business with people buying clothes for the festive occasion.
The coming days will be crowded with temples holding poojas and processions of idol immersions taking place at different points.
