Mangalore, Aug 27: The district administration has banned the sale of liquor in selected places from Tuesday August 29 to Saturday September 2, in view of ensuring peace and order during the Ganesha festival celebrations.

In the city police sub-station limits, the ban order will be on August 27, 31 and September 2.

In places where Shobhayatra will be taken out for the immersion of Ganesha idols, the dry day will come into effect for 12 hours, from 6 pm of the notified day.

Others places in Dakshina Kannada district where the ban will be enforced are Suratkal, Ullal, Bajpe, Bantwal, Beltangady, Puttur, Panemangalore and Kavoor.
