Udupi, Aug 27: MLA and president of BJP district unit K Raghupati Bhat has threatened to launch a non-partisan people's movement on September 1 following the Iron Ore Lorry Owners Association and the Iron Ore Exporters Association's failure to response to the deadline of August 31 issued by him.

Speaking to reporters, Bhat said that the deadline was given to the associations to reinstall the weighbridge at Shiroor, which had become weak due to the movement of heavy over-loaded lorries.

Bhat further informed that the people's movement will involve blocking the entry of overloaded iron ore lorries at Shiroor. The party flag would not be used for the movement, moreover, he welcomed the involvement of other parties and organisations. A letter has already been sent to the deputy commissioner on the issue, he added.
