Mangalore, Aug 27:  An awareness programme on bad habits ‘Swasthya Sankalpa’, was held on Saturday Augu 26, at the Milagres Junior College here. The programme was jointly organized by SDM College, Ujire NSS unit, Jana Jagrithi Vedike and Shree Kshetra Dharmastala Project (SKDRDP).

Speaking on the occasion, Capt Ganesh Karnik, MLC, referred to president A P J Abdul Kalam’s dream of building a strong nation and said that education plays a vital role in developing one’s personality. The purpose of education is man making in nation building, he added.

Mahaveer Ajri, district secretary, Jana Jagrithi Vedike, detailed on the many awareness programmes that are scheduled for the year, which will involve nearly 12,000 students from various high schools, PU and degree colleges.

The Swasthya Sankalpa banner was released by Fr Victor D’Souza, parish priest, Milagres Church.

Also present were Vasant Salian, president, Jana Jagrithi Vedike, Tereza D’Souza, vice-principal, Milagres Junior College and Dr B Yashovarma, principal, SDM College, Ujire.
