Udupi, Aug 27: The Chaturthi festivities are being observed by way of poojas etc.
Houses have been neatly spruced up. Rangoli drawings are a common sight at the entrances. They seem to be products of a lot of imagination and creativity.
Shops and business establishments have been decorated.
On the cultural side, the tiger dance is playing a low profile.
Incidentally, speaking to Daijiworld, one of the tiger team members said there were a few reasons for the sparse appearance of tiger dance. Firstly, the collection they make is not worth the investment.
People too have begun to resent the arrival of tigers and they have to shell out big money if a number of tiger teams turn up at their doors. Only such persons who had vowed to present the tiger dance at a certan festival would take the initiative, said he in a downcast mood.
Festivities, nevertheless, go on.
