Women, children tie 'rakhi' to Modi


New Delhi, Aug 10 (IANS): Women from different walks of life Sunday tied 'rakhi' to Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday to mark the Raksha Bandhan festival.

Among those who tied 'rakhi' on Modi's wrist were widows from Vrindavan and Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh as well as members from various women groups including the BJP's women wing.

Schoolchildren including specially-abled children as well as women MPs from Gujarat also tied 'rakhi', an official statement said.

Minister for Minority Affairs Najma Heptulla and Hindu activist Sadhvi Rithambara also greeted the prime minister on the occasion and tied rakhi on his wrist.
