Pakistan violates ceasefire in Jammu

Jammu, Aug 10 (IANS): Pakistan Army Sunday opened fire without provocation at Indian positions along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, an official said.

"Pakistan Army fired at our positions on the LoC in Mendhar area of the Poonch district," defence spokesman Colonel Manish Mehta told IANS here.

"Pakistan firing started at 11.30 p.m. today (Sunday). They used small arms and automatics," Mehta said.

Indian troops responded using similar calibre weapons.

"No damage or casualty was reported on our side," Mehta added.

Pakistan violated ceasefire in the same area two days back as well.

Army and intelligence agencies say Pakistan violates ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir to help infiltration of armed guerrillas into the Indian side of the border.
