Mumbai, Aug 11: Varamahalaxmi Pooja programme was celebrated at Mahishamardini Temple at Jayaraj Nagar in Vajirnaka at Borivli (W). Vishweshatheertha Swamiji of Pejavar Adhokshaja Mutt and junior priest Vishwaprasanna Theertha Swamiji arrived for the programme and blessed the devotees.
The two priests conducted pooja in the spiritual presence of Mahishamardini Devi, Ganapathi, Raktheshwari Devi and Kodimanithaya
diety. Temple trustees Kanajaru Kolakebail Pradeep C Shetty and Shalini Pradeep C Shetty welcomed the priests in devotion as per
tradition and honored them. Pejavara Shree distributed fruits and mantrakshathe to the devotees and blessed them.
Vishweshatheera spoke saying that the growth of religious customs at home can bring about well-being of the world. "There is scarcity of them among children and it is the responsibility to women to hold them. Women are the roots of religious customs. People in Mumbai have honored and protected religious customs and the Almighty will be happy if such customs remain and grow in all the houses," he added.
"The Friday of Shravana month is a prosperous day. Varamahalaxmi is the wealth in human lives. The blessings of Varalaxmi is a tremendous blessing and everybody wants it. Everybody desires it for our lives to proceed beautifully. We long for wealth and we need the blessings of Varamahalaxmi in order to live free from troubles and debt," he continued.
Members of the temple committee of trustees, Kallamandkur Harialaguthu Jayaraj Sridhar Shetty, Swapna J Shetty, Jayapali Ashok Shetty, Jayanth Chandayya Shetty, temple priests and devotees participated in the Pooja programmes. Venkatramana Tanthri led the main pooja and distributed prasada. Pejavara Mutt Mumbai branch manager Vidwan Ramadas Upadyaya conducted bhajans, compered the programme and proposed the vote of thanks.
