Illegal gun making unit busted in Odisha


Bhubaneswar, Aug 11 (IANS): An illegal gun making unit has been unearthed in Odisha's Angul district and five people arrested, a police official said Monday.

Inspector General of Police P.S. Ranpise said police raided the house of a man in Talcher town, about 170 km from state capital Bhubaneswar, late Sunday night on a tip-off and found 31 country-made pistols and 500 live cartridges.

Police later raided the gun manufacturing unit the man was running separately in a rented house on the outskirts of the town, he said.

Five people have been arrested in this connection although the main accused managed to escape, Ranpise told IANS.
