22 Afghan Taliban killed in army operations


Kabul, Aug 11 (IANS): At least 22 Taliban militants, including two commanders, were killed in cleanup operations launched in Ghazni province Monday morning, an army spokesperson said.

"Units of national army launched cleanup operations against Taliban militants in Mir Jan area of Andar district early Monday morning and so far 22 rebels including their two commanders named Mullah Adnan and Qari Khalid have been killed," Xinhua quoted army spokesperson Nazifullah Sultani as saying. 

No security personnel was killed, he said, adding that the cleanup operations will continue till eviction of the militants from the district.

Taliban militants were yet to make any comment.
