Kerala Tourism's Facebook following reaches million mark

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 11 (IANS): Kerala's tech-savvy tourism department reached a milestone this week when the number of its Facebook fans hit the one million mark.

Kerala Tourism thus became the first tourism board in the country with this unique record and is far ahead of global tourism destination boards like Singapore Tourism (eight lakh fans), Thailand Tourism (six lakh fans) and Paris Tourism (3.2 lakh fans).

Launched in 2010, the Kerala Tourism Facebook page has been a gateway for its fans to catch glimpses of the state through the social media, with information on latest events and state news ranging from art to culture being provided on this page.

"This is a landmark achievement and Kerala Tourism has always been in the forefront when it comes to embracing the power of the social media to reach out to people," Kerala Tourism Minister A.P. Anilkumar said.
