Daijiworld News Network - Udupi (GA)

Udupi, Aug 28: "Those who are protesting against the widening of Bannaje-Kalsanka-kadiyali road are not helping anyone.  They are misleading the people, especially those who are losing their land and houses.  It is utterly false that they have been paid only Rs 23,000 per cents.  Actually these people have been paid Rs 1.07 lac per cents.  So there is not problem whatsoever," said MLA K Raghupati Bhat.

He was speaking at a press conference here recently.

He also said that though 40 feet broad road is enough for the time being, if one keeps in mind the growth of next 20-25 years, 80 feet road is must.  Out of this 60 feet will be for road and the rest 20 feet will be used for footpath, drainage etc.  He also clarified that none of the temples or nagabanas on this way would be demolished.  But a part of Narayana Guru building at Bannanje, Brindavan Complex and Shri Ram building will be demolished.

He also said that if people give their land willingly, they will also be paid interest from the same day.  He urged protestors to join hand with administration for the development of the town.

BJP leaders Kota Srinivas Poojary, Gerald Fernandes, Baikady Suprasad Shetty, Katapadi Shankar Poojary, and Mahesh Thakoor were also present at the press conference.
