Seven troopers injured in Kashmir guerrilla attack


Srinagar, Aug 12 (IANS): Seven paramilitary border security force (BSF) troopers were injured late in a guerrilla attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district.

Police said a vehicle carrying Border Security Force personnel was attacked by guerrillas when it reached Pampore town, 14 Km from summer capital Srinagar, in Pulwama district late Monday night.

"Seven BSF troopers were injured in this hit and run attack that occurred late yesterday (Monday) night at Pampore town on Srinagar-Jammu national highway.

"All the injured have been admitted to the army's base hospital in Badami Bagh cantonment," a senior police officer told IANS here.

The attack came on the eve of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's one-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir Tuesday.
