New Delhi, Aug 13 (IANS): Passenger car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki Wednesday said its gasoline powered K-series engine crossed 25 lakh (2.5 million) production milestone early this month.
According to the company, the engine which powers bestselling brands such as Alto K10, Celerio, Wagon R, Swift, Dzire, Ertiga and Ritz is compact light weight, fuel efficient and uses next generation gasoline engine technology.
The engine debuted in 2008 with A-star and brought in light weight compact superior gasoline engine with high fuel efficiency and lower emissions.
The engines also powers alternate fuel (CNG and LPG) vehicles offered by the company.
“K-series is one of the most refined gasoline engine technologies available in India. It is able to combine best in class fuel efficiency with superior performance," said C.V Raman, executive director, engineering, Maruti Suzuki.
“Engine refinement is an ongoing effort and going forward our new models will incorporate technologies that further enhance the attributes of high fuel efficiency, low emissions (and) superior performance" Raman said,
