Flipkart to sell Amar Chitra Katha comics


Bangalore, Aug 13 (IANS): India's leading e-commerce player Flipkart Wednesday announced an exclusive tie-up with Amar Chitra Katha to sell its collection online through cash on delivery and EMI (equated monthly instalment) options.

Amar Chitra Katha depicts visually Indian stories from the great epics, mythology, history, literature and oral folk tales.

Priced at Rs.18,999, the collection comprises 315 singles and 10 special comics and has 13,000 pages by various authors.

"Amar Chitra Katha has been teaching children about Indian mythology and cultural heritage for over 47 years and owns an ultimate collection our customers will look forward to," Flipkart director for retail Nipun Mehra said in a statement here.

"We are confident that the Flipkart platform will help us reach all our readers across the country and get more onboard as the most loved story teller," Amar Chitra Katha chief executive Manas Mohan said in the statement.

With over 400 comics in 20 languages, Amar Chitra Katha has sold about 100 million copies offline till date.

"We are also launching these stories in animated, live-action and gaming formats spanning television, film, mobile and online," Mohan added.

With 15 million products across 70 categories, including books, media, consumer electronics and lifestyle, Flipkart offers delivery services with in-a-day guarantee across 50 cities and same-day-guarantee in 13 cities across the country.
