Bangalore / Chennai, Aug 30: A pistol was recovered from former civil aviation minister Chand Mahal Ibrahim before he boarded a flight to Bangalore, airport sources said on Wednesday.
Ibrahim was union minister for civial aviation minister in the UPA government headed by premier H D Deve Gowda. It is unlikely that he was not aware of the rules and regulations about carrying lethal weapons during flights.
Ibrahim had come to the airport to board a Kingfisher Airlines flight scheduled to leave at 9.45 p.m. on Tuesday, the sources said.
The former minister was allowed to proceed on his journey although the pistol was seized. When asked for the licence he is said to have produced its photocopy and undertook to produce the original withing two days.
The sources said Ibrahim has been asked to produce the licence for the weapon before he can reclaim it.
