Mangalore, Aug 31: The fares for auto rickshaws plying in Dakshina Kannada have been revised to take effect from September 1, 2006.
At a meeting of the Regional Transport Authority held on Aug 30, it was decided to introduce an upward revision of the fares. It was in response to the auto rickshaw owners, who had sought a revision in the wake of rise in fuel and spare parts prices in recent times.
Revised fare pattern
Rs 11 for the first 1.5 kms. Thereafter Rs 7 for every km or fraction thereof
Waiting: First five minutes free. Thereafter Rs 1 per every 15 minutes or fraction thereof
Luggage: Up to 20 kgs, suitcases and other baggage free. Above that, Rs 1 per every 20 kgs or fraction thereof
The rickshaw-drivers can charge one-and-a-half times of the actual fare for trips between 10-00 pm and to 5-00 am.
For plying beyond the city Corporation limits, only one-and-a-half times can be charged.
The revised fare-chart should be displayed in all rickshaws at a prominent place, says the RTA decision.
All rickshaws have been ordered to have their meter calibration properly re-adjusted and get certification from the department of weights and measures.
