Court orders registering case against Pakistan PM


Islamabad, Aug 16 (IANS): A Pakistani court Saturday ordered the registering of a murder case against 21 people, including Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, for the June 17 firing in Lahore that killed at least 11 protesters, a media report said.

A sessions court in Lahore also ordered the registering of a case against Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Dawn online reported.

The court directed Faisal Town police to register a case against the accused and ordered that a report be presented before it after completion of the process.

At least eleven Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) workers were killed and over 100 people were injured in the June 17 clash between police and the party workers in Lahore's Model Town.
