Kundapur, Sep 1: The over loaded ore-laden lorries are once again in news now. Udupi MLA K Raghupati Bhat and MP Manorama Madhwaraj with the help of party members and college students have once again started stopping these lorries on the way from Friday September 1.
As reported earlier, it had been decided that all the over loaded lorries will be stopped at Shiroor if the weigh bridge had not been set up by August 31 by lorry owners. Since the weigh bridge has not been set up, the BJP leaders with the help of college students from Brahmavar stopped over loaded lorries at Ottinene near here on Friday. Members of consumers' forum too were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion K Raghupati Bhat said that all the political parties have extended support to this move by BJP. Byndoor MLA Gopal Poojary and former Udupi MP Vinay Kumar Sorake too have assured to join in the protest, he added.
