Mangalore, Sep 2: The police have arrested a father-son duo for illegal sale of beef at Kulur near here on Friday September 1.

The arrested have been identified as Usman (60) and his son Sirajuddin (19), resident of Rayikatte near here.  The police have seized 19 kilograms of beef, a Cielo car, a Honda Activa scooter and a mobile phone from the accused.

The accused were selling beef near Kulur Bridge on Friday.  Bajrang Dal activists received this news and some of them approached the father-son duo as customers and bought meet.  Once it was clear that it was beef, they passed news to Kavoor police.  Accordingly police seized the vehicle and arrested the accused.

It is said that Sirajuddin used to bring meet on Cielo vehicle which was later sold door-to-door on scooter by his father Usman.  However, police are not yet sure whether they were also involved in illegal slaughter of cattle or they used to bring it from somewhere else.
