Udupi, Sep 2: Kudi Vasanth Shetty, headmaster of Shri Vishnumurthy High School, Kudi has been chosen for the state-level "Best Teacher" award.
Vasanth Shetty is the head master of the school eversince it was upgraded to high school in 1980. He is also the president of District High School Head Teachers' and PU Principals' Association. He is the resource person with the Mangalore University and has trained number of teachers in many subjects.
During his tenure has head master, the school has climbed the ladder of success in various fields. Academically too the school has scaled great heights. Out of 24 SSLC batches, 8 have secured 100% results while 13 have come out with more than 95% results. More than half the students pass with distinction and first class marks every year.
The students have been provided with ample opportunities to involve themselves in co-curricular activities such as Carnatic music, scouts, yoga classes, yakshagana etc. Free afternoon meal (congy) is something special in Kudi high school.
The award will be presented at a gala function to be held at Belgaum on Tuesday September 5.
