DU student among three held for chain snatching


Gurgaon, Aug 18 (IANS): Three students, including one from Delhi University (DU), were arrested here for chain snatching, police said Monday.

Jitendra, Kapil Kumar and Deepak, all aged 20 and residents of Bhondsi village, were arrested, police said.

Jitendra is a B.A. first year student at a Delhi University affiliated college. The other two are students in Gurgaon.

Jitendra was arrested Sunday from Jharsa road, Sector 15, when he was trying to escape after snatching a chain. Kapil and Deepak were arrested later.

"The accused wanted to buy a car and decided to snatch chains and collect money. They were involved in five chain snatching cases in the last two months," said police officer Dalbir Singh.

They were presented before the court of duty magistrate Monday and sent to police custody for two days.
