Shimla, Aug 18 (IANS): The temperatures across Himachal Pradesh rose Monday as monsoon became dormant. Similar conditions will continue till this weekend, a weather official said here.

"Rain occurred at isolated places since Sunday. With this, the maximum temperature rose by one to two degrees Celsius," an official of the Met department told IANS.

The weather office said the minimum temperature was recorded in Keylong in Lahaul-Spiti district at 9.3 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature was recorded in Ponta Sahib in Sirmaur district at 34 degrees Celsius.

The picturesque tourist spots of Narkanda, Kufri, Shimla, Dharamsala, Palampur and Manali recorded no rainfall.

The state capital saw a maximum of 25.9 degrees Celsius, while it was 24 degrees Celsius in Kalpa and 27.6 degrees in Dharamsala.

However, Dalhousie received just 1 mm of rainfall.

"The monsoon will remain subdued till Aug 24 with chances of light rain at some places," the official added.

A government spokesperson said the water level in Satluj, Beas and Yamuna rivers and their tributaries, which were in spate in Kinnaur, Shimla, Kullu, Mandi, Bilaspur and Sirmaur districts, has started receding as there was no rainfall in the past two days.
