'Tenants' loot Ghaziabad trader's house

Ghaziabad, Aug 19 (IANS): Three unidentified armed robbers, posing as tenants, looted cash, jewellery and other valuables from the house of a trader in Ghaziabad Tuesday.

The incident occurred Tuesday afternoon in the posh Brij Vihar residential locality of the city.

The police said that at about 2.30 p.m., three men knocked on the main gate of the house of one Sunil Tomar.

At that time, Sunil was at his shop in the same locality. His wife Sudesh opened the gate and the trio, pretending that they were looking for accommodation, gained entry into the house.

Once inside the house, instead of talking about rent or other details, the trio held the housewife at gun point and robbed valuables, including Rs.5,000 in cash and 200 grams of jewellery, before escaping.

At about 3.00 p.m., neighbours noticed the woman lying unconscious. They called the police who found her gagged with a cloth.

"We are trying to nab the criminals. The woman is normal now," said CO-IV Atul Yadav.
