Moodbidri, Sep 4: The ICYM Diamond Jubilee Cross was handed over to the youth of Moodbidri Varado here on September 3.

Over 2,250 people from the whole varado took part in the orderly procession with a devotional spirit. Moodbidri varado youth director Fr Anil D’souza and Moodbidri deanery vicar Fr Alban along with varado youth president Praveen Hospet, secretary Godwin Menezes Gantalkatte &and Central Council representative Kevin Misquith Suratkal and Central Council treasurer Ashwin Jossy Pereira Gantalkatte received the Cross from the youth leaders and youth director of Beltangady varado.

Four devotional tableaux were part of the procession. The Cross was carried in a decorated vehicle, accompanied by two music bands and hundreds of altar boys. While in most varados, only the youth take the iniative, here people of all ages participated in the procession.

Taccode parish priest Fr Hilary Lobo gave a meaningful homily on the Holy Cross. Most of the Central Council members gathered in Moodbidri as this programme had been eagerly looked forward to.

Moodbidri varado Youth president co-ordinated the programme awith the help of all parish priests and Youth Leaders. This programme was a grand success and made a good impression in the minds of non-Christians also.
