Udupi, Sep 5: The Barkur bridge currently under construction will be thrown open to traffic on November 1, 2006.
This was announced by Brahmavar MLA Jayaprakash Hegde, after he inspected the work in progress on Monday, along with other officials.
The contractors were told on the spot to engage additional workforce so that the bridge could be ready well within the deadline.
Zilla panchayat president B N Shankar Poojary, Barkur Shantaram Shetty, B Bhujanga Shetty, Govindaraj Hegde, Vijayakumar Udyavar, Jnana Vasant Shetty and others were present on the occasion.
