Mangalore, Sep 5: 'Purandara Utsav' will be held in the town hall here on Wednesday, September 6 the Dakhsina Kannada chapter of Kannada Sahitya Parishat, in association with the state government's department of Kannada and culture.

MLA Yogish Bhat inaugurate the festival at 4-30 pm. Purandara Das' devotional songs will be presented from 4-35 to 5-30 pm. Stage function will follow, to be chaired by district minister-in-charge B Nagaraj Shetty. Canara Bank deputy general manager D T Pai, Karnataka Bank chief general manager Jayaram Bhat, DK deputy commissioner Maheshwar Rao and Kannada Sahitya Parishat's immediate past president Harikrishna Punarur will be the guests of honour.

Dr Satyanarayan Mallipatna will deliver a lecture on the linguistic elegance of Purandar Das' creations.

This was announced by KSP's district president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura at a press conference on Monday.
