Ljubljana, Aug 21 (IANS): In a bid to introduce and promote Indian produced wines Europe, the country will participate in upcoming Vino Ljubljana International Wine Fair from Sep 4-6 here.
However, according to promoters of Indian wines in Slovenia, there has been no major push or encouragement from Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).
Even as the government policy is to encourage Indian food and beverages exports by promoting Indian produce in new markets such as Slovenia is well laid down.
This comes even after an invitation welcoming India's participation in the upcoming event being held here was sent by the Slovenian agriculture ministry.
This is the first time that Indian wines will compete in the oldest wine tasting event in Europe -- Vino Ljubljana 2014.
Diplomatic sources, said that Indian exporters need to be encouraged to explore new markets such as Slovenia to promote agricultural produce and processed foods like wines.
