Dalai Lama to see exhibits on Tibetan nomads' lives


Dharamsala, Aug 22 (IANS): Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama will visit the Museum of Ethnology in Germany next week to see exhibits on the life of Tibetan nomads, an official said Friday.

At the invitation of the Hamburg's Museum of Ethnology, the Society for Threatened Peoples and the Tibet Initiative Deutschland, the Dalai Lama will visit the exhibition 'Tibet: Destruction of an ancient civilization' Aug 25, the official said here.

The monk reached Frankfurt Friday on a six-day visit. This is his 38th visit to Germany.

The exhibition displays the life of Tibetan nomads, who are under great threat, he said.

He said the spiritual leader would deliver a talk in the Academy of World Religions of University of Hamburg on the same day.

He will address participants in the 'Finding common ground: Sino-Tibetan conference' in Hamburg Aug 27. The conference will be attended by scholars, activists, writers, sinologists from Europe, the US, Asia and Australia.

The Dalai Lama has stayed in India since fleeing his homeland in 1959. The Tibetan exile administration is based Dharamsala.
