New Delhi, Aug 26 (IANS): Reliance Power (RPower) Tuesday said the fifth 660 MW unit of its Sasan Ultra Mega Power Project in Madhya Pradesh has started power generation, taking its operational capacity to 3,300 MW
"The fifth 660 MW unit of the 3,960 MW Sasan Ultra Mega Power Project (UMPP) has commenced power generation thus making 3,300 MW capacity operational at the project," RPower said in a stock exchange filing.
The last, and sixth, unit is in the advanced stages of construction and will be commissioned over the next few months, the announcement added.
With this unit, RPower's generation capacity has increased to 5,185 MW which includes 5,100 MW of thermal capacity and 85 MW of renewable energy based capacity.
Coal production has also begun from the 20 million tonnes Moher and Moher-Amlohri captive mines associated with the UMPP.
At 2.38 p.m. Tuesday, the company's stock was trading at Rs.76.25 a share, 6.25 points, or 7.58 percent, lower than its previous close on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
