Mumbai, Sep 3: "Criticisms, suggestions and healthy debates are useful for the development of an organization. When members actively involve in question answers, demands of organization will be fulfilled and relationship will be strengthened," said Chandrashekar Palthady president of Kannada Journalist Association.
He was addressing the gathering here at the sixth annual general meeting of Kannadiga Patrakartara Sangh held at Journalist Bhavan in Santha Cruz (W) at Uthkrush Nagar, Vokola recently.
"Framing good life for journalists is our aim. Members should support the development of the institution. Institution will remain transparent if there are proper debates and discussions. Association had planned for a project of Rs 3 crore, of which Rs 1 crore for health insurance of members and Rs 2 crore for the Bhavan. But we failed to reach the target without the proper response from members. If we get Rs 2.5 crores interest, we can provide the money for medical aid for members. Hence, members should work sincerely. If any member suffers illness, the association will never desert them," he said.
Advocate B Moideen Mundakkuru, Dr Sunitha M Shetty, veteran journalist and special invitee advocate Vasanth Kalakoti were seated on stage. CA I R Shetty was appointed as the auditor on the occasion.
Founder honorary chief secretary Rons Bantwal in his introductory note said, "This association Bhavan is like our home. We are a family. We need to to be like a health Bhavan for journalists. He also explained about the meeting conducted with Cheif Minister, Chief Minister's media advisor Dinesh Amin Mattu and speaker H D Shankarmurthy, demanding aid for the Journalist Bhavan."
He also remembered the contributions of Dr Suresh S Shetty Kateel, Bharath Bank former working president V R Kotiyan, Dr Bharath Sha, Dr Prashanth J Rajput, CA I R Shetty, advocate Kadandale Parari Prakash L Shettyu, Gregory D Almeda, Surendra Poojary and Hrithesh Sudhakar Uchil.
Advocate Moideen said, "I am happy to see the sixth annual meet. Let the association reach greater heights in the coming days. I will support the health insurance so that everyone can lead a peaceful life as children of Kannadamba."
Advocate Vasanth Kalakoti spoke and congratulated the gathering on the occasion. Members honoured Shiva Shetty Moodugere, Padmanabha P Poojary, Mahesh Karkala and others.
Executive committee members Lawerence Cohelo, Savitha S Shetty, Sham M Hande, Gurudath S punja, Janardhan S Puriya and Association Sports Committee working president Jaya C Poojary were present. Nagesh Poojary Elleinje, Janardhana Puriya, Suresh Shetty Yeyyadi spoke during the occasion.
On the occasion, death of Jnanpita awardee U R Ananthamurthy, Ashok Bagambila, TV9 Lawrence D'Souza Moodbidri, P Noor Mohammed, honourary editor of Sanmarga weekly were remembered.
