Mumbai, Sep 14: For the first time the Konkani Association of Vakola, Santacruz (E) here, celebrated the feast of Nativity on a grand scale. The idol of Mother Mary was taken in a procession led by Fr Richard Lasrado, who later offered the solemn Mass in Konkani.
Later a celebration was held in the school hall which was attended by Alexius Saldanha, honorary advisor, Fr Walter Pinto, director and Fr Richard Lasrado.
William D’Souza, president, welcomed the gathering. Henryboy, vice – president, told the importance of the feast. Clement Madanthyar, honorary chief secretary, compered the programme. John Rodrigues, treasurer, welcomed the guests. Florine Saldanha, secretary, proposed the vote of thanks.
Dances, Konkani songs, mimicry and drama were part of the cultural programme put up by the children.
