Kundapur, Sep 4: The police arrested a theif who attempted to steal money from an ATM at Saibre Katte on Tuesday September 3.

It is said that the accused was addicted to alchohol and used loiter during the night; he was also involved in another minor theft.

The accused has been identified as Rama Poojary (60).

The thief who entered the ATM at around 4 am, tried to steal money from the machine in various attempts. When he failed in his attempts, he smashed the ATM with a sickle. He then sat on the machine and had pan. However all his attempts were captured in the CCTV camera.

Within a short duration, the police arrested the accused nearby Upladi on records of the footage. Local people also opined that there was no proper security for the ATM and suggested that either the bank should make security arrangements or the ATM should be shut during the night.
