Stop drumming in Japan, focus on home affairs, says Rahul Gandhi to PM

Amethi, Sep 4 (NDTV): The Prime Minister is playing the drums in Japan, while at home, a power crisis and rising prices are plaguing the nation, said Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi. "100 days of this government are over...it has forgotten its promises," said the 44-year-old, alleging that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government has reneged on pledges to tackle corruption and other issues.

Mr Gandhi's comments were made in his constituency of Amethi, where he faced tough questions from residents about long power cuts.

Mr Modi returned yesterday from a five-day trip to Japan where he delivered a series of applauded speeches and photo-ops - on one occasion, he played the drums; on another, he broke the security cordon at the Indian embassy in Tokyo to greet supporters across the street.

He has returned with a commitment from Japan to invest nearly 34 billion dollars over the next five years in key infrastructure projects and the cleaning of the river Ganga.

Mr Modi exhibited him much-acclaimed oratory skills with flair and ease throughout his visit. "I am a Gujarati, money is in my blood, I understand business," he told a group of Japanese businessmen. "Red carpet, not red tape, awaits you in India" he promised another.

Mr Modi's government completed 100 days in office this week. In May, his party, the BJP won a stunning victory in the national elections, accruing the strongest mandate for a political party in 30 years. Mr Gandhi led the campaign for the Congress which locked down its worst ever performance.

But for his party, centred on the dynastic rule of the Gandhis (Rahul's mother Sonia is President), criticizing the First Family is a firm no-go zone. A report dissecting the party's failure in the election said Mr Gandhi could not be held responsible for the debacle.

In the face of criticism from his party's old guard, who have publicly questioned his leadership, Mr Gandhi said, "These types of tensions have always been there. We will deal with that."

Joseph, Just wait and watch. Don't come to a conclusion so early. As you know, by August 2015 Swachcha Bharath mission is already in progress, which your INC could not do in 60 years. Both bullet train and toilets need to go hand in hand. Come out of your prejudiced mind and see the progress report and decide. India has changed a lot. Refer elections results and pattern of voting. India would not vote on caste and religion any more. INC needs to changes it strategy else people will change its fate :) Chaiwala becoming a PM is greatest victory of democracy. Learn to appreciate it.

S N BANGS, Cleaning Ganga is no big deal but first we have to clean our Indian mindset. As of now the Holiest River in the world is also the world’s dirtiest river. If we can spread the message of not allowing industrial effluents in the Ganga, half burnt bodies, cattle, flowers, pooja items, washing and bathing we can achieve cleaning of Ganga.
Right now we are spending in Billions every year on the following:
    1. Intercepting untreated municipal sewage and industrial wastewater flowing into river and diverting to sewage treatment plant
    2. Setting up Sewage Treatment Plants (STP) in the cities lying along the river for treatment of sewage and wastewater with suitable technologies for the standards for river discharge and letting treated effluent into river
    3. Construction of bio gas/electrical crematoriums in the river bank
    4. Construction of bathing ghats/toilets to eliminate open defecation in river bank
    5. Improvements to river banks to ensure its stability against erosion
    6. Afforestation, creating avenues along river bank
    7. Solid waste management systems to prevent dumping of solid wastes in the river.
If we can reach out to the people of India and educate, Ganga can be easily cleaned …

Please don't blame each other. if there is a ruling party, there must be opposition. its nothing but two faces of coin. Election is like you toss a coin in the cricket pitch. Rather criticizing each other, why cant we use the same method to get united and fight for a cause. Everybody's vision and mission is the same, development, eradicate corruption, transparency, openness, safety, integrity, and so on. Then what is the point of standing in different platform. Why cant all of us come together and fight for our own cause. forget about the parties, no matter who becomes the PM or CM, the core issue is to bring have everything in its place. we cannot extend our views to the whole country, there are responsible people for every region. If we start focusing the issues related to our areas, that would bring tangible and fruitful result. Bring education among the people, let our people to learn and understand. Maintain generosity and honesty. If you are straight forward, everything will be straight forward towards you.

every nation has progressed ECONOMICALLY ..
    so, will India be..
we need visionaries..leadership qualities.. practical pragmatic... deliver goods .make things happen..peoples person.. less spoken more seen in action with results...
Nehru etc lived their time during their time and now let the nation decide whom they want as their Leader.. absolute Tall LEADER..to deliver..
Congress will have to watch what others can do.. and check where they went wrong. and why?
is it at the cost of poor 1.2 billion Indians?
look at the wealth ordinary politicians have amassed..any accountability?

Whether Modiji is able to get 34 billion dollars investment in India is to be seen.

Every Indian should think, entire Hindustan as India not Gujarath. Why being a PM of India, he is more concerned about Gujarath development. Behind the seen, this has given enough turmoil within BJP of other states of India.

Unfortunately Modiji is not able to sign power deal in Nepal and Nuclear Deal with Japan. Those who praise the PM Modiji will able to give their own verdict shortly.

Time will tell us who is "Fooling" the Indian Electorate!!!!

How long FEKU can manipulate with the Adani's (Katti Kotta Buthhi matthu helikotta Maathu estratanaka!!!) Ambani's seems to be at the Crossroads presently with FEKU for Gas Price Hike Issue!!!

The three countries Nepal, Bhutan and Japan visited by Chaaiwaala are friendly countries since independence.

Chaaiwaala is beating the drums that he achieved a mountain out of a mole. Bajaavo dole.

Inside India in his own state children are swimming and crossing the river to go to school.

He wanted to reach out teachers and students directly on the teachers day.

Chaaiwaala couldn't speak directly to Jeshodhaben, Poor Teacher.

CHAAIWAALA DEGRADED ALL THE TEACHERS BY KEEPING AWAY TEACHER JESHODHABEN.

NOW HE IS BEATING THE DRUMS HERE ALSO. THINKING NANU KUMBALA KAAI KADDHILLA ANTHA HEGALU ORESUTTHIDDHA BHOOPA.

Joseph, Don't deviate from the focus of the Japan visit. 35 Billion dollars worth work would be done from Japan companies in next five years and you would see a change. If all money is utilized effectively then Your INC might get reduced from 44 to 4 in 2019! refer latest surveys which are predicting two third majority to Modi. Just wait and watch upcoming assembly elections...Good Luck Dude!

    Rahul
Modi was on a official tour of Japan.
During that time, like any other PM, he visited a place where a drummer was playing and Modiji askd him to play the beat he knew and it was great too. Nothing wrong in it and nothing to connect with our local problems.
Drumming was impressive and was liked by the spectators.
    You always make wrong statements.
Will you please learn to make right comments at the right time and without getting upset\angry please?

You could have made a comment on Modiji saying something about seculars at home....as that remark was out of tune by a PM to make when he is visiting another nation.

Criticizing Govt on its failed promised is o.k. It is duty of opposition party.
However, on 34 billion dollars FDI by Japan, this is not right time to criticize.
Contrary, Rahul should appreciate the Govt. efforts in the interest of the nation.
If promises do not materialize, then Rahul will have all the right to criticize Modi, timing will be right, and he will have backing of the people.

untill now australia was not ready to sell uranium to india even if india requested and agreed to its all unreasonable demands.now all of a sudden australian pm is coming to india and ready to sell uranium to india even if modi did not formally asked for it.same case with japan.japan has assured india that nuke deal will happen soon at a later stage.if a country does not have nationalistic and patriotic leader, that country will not get respect in entire world .once strong leader emerged in india who always thinks about countries interest as paramount, everyone can see how the world behaves towards it.

As is opposition, Rahul is trying to wakeup Mr. Modi and the government one who is in still winning celebration of the election. Is it true that India have a lot of problems which will not solve by hit drums in Japan. They should stop the publicity and should understand their responsible as they are the government now and it is not a election. Election was over and start t work than speak.... Need to remember that they have 5 years only and passed already 3 months .... I am not a supporter of BJP or Congress but any government should have a opposition in he democracy , then only the ministers will take much care while working.... We need to call our as Indian government than Modi government... This government have a full majority to prove themselves and not like earlier alliance government... Lets see and hope for the best.. good luck for government and be Indian government...
