By Fr Richard Lasrado
Mangalore, Sep 8: St. Sebastian’s Church, Thokur celebrated the nativity of mother Mary on Monday, September 8. The celebration began with the blessing of the new grains. This was followed by the veneration of mother Mary by singing songs and floral tribute. Small children offered different beautiful flowers at the newly blessed grotto while the congregation sang hymns in praise of our dear mother.
The solemn Eucharistic celebration began thereafter. The whole congregation went in procession to the church who were followed the celebrants of the holy Eucharist. Fr Niran Veigas SVD presided over the holy Eucharist along with Fr Richard Lasarado, parish priest and Fr Jojy Varghese TOR who concelebrated it. A beautiful homily on this occasion was given by the parish priest Fr Richard Lasarado. He stressed on the exemplary life of our dear mother and expressed the need to build closeness and unity in every family as well as the respect and dignity that is to be given to the girl child. The holy eucharist was enriched by melodious singing by the parish youth as well as active participation by the whole congregation.
At the end of the mass the newly blessed grains were distributed to the families. All were given apples and sugar cane as well as sweets.
On behalf of the parish priest Fr Richard Lasarado as well the parishioners of St. Sebastian’s church, Thokur, we wish you ‘A Very Happy Monthi Fest.’
