Spa Francorchamps (Belgium), Sep 8 (IANS): India's Aditya Patel, representing Audi India, JK Tyres and Amante along with Portugese teammate Cesar Campanico squeezed out a podium finish with a second place in the second race of the International GT Open series here.
Although the duo suffered damage in Race one, the team repaired the car and had it running for Race two Sunday.
Patel made a magnificent start and gained four places from 11th on the grid by the end of lap one. After a battle with the Porsche of Matteo Barreta, the Indian managed to settle down in fourth place in the GT3 class.
Chennai-based Patel then handed the car over to Campanico during the mandatory driver change and the Portuguese fought his way up to second.
Patel said: “The weekend was not one of the easiest for sure. We knew we would struggle in terms of straight line speed, but the Audi R8 LMS made up for it in the corners.”
“It's great to be on the podium again for the second weekend in a row. We're now close to third in the championship and we have two race weekends to get there.”
