Mangalore, Sep 18: A day-long bundh call given by some autorickshaw unions had mixed response in the city with many opting against the bundh on Monday September 18.
Some rickshaw unions had given a bundh call on Monday. However, most of the rickshaws were seen plying on city roads, which was clear indication that strike did not have much impact. Since examinations are on for the students, most of the drivers backed out from going on strike. It is a known fact that many students in the city are depending on rickshaws to go to school.
However, in some places, rickshaw drivers observed bundh to show solidarity with their unions who are demanding for hike in minimum fare. The demand is to revise the minimum fare to Rs 12 instead of Rs 11 as suggested by RTO.
