Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 9 (IANS): CMC Ltd, Hyderabad, along with an in-house ICT team, has begun work on making the 35th National Games here completely IT-enabled, with all important services and deliverables working on an IT platform.
The two-week-long event, billed as one of the biggest sporting events that the country has seen, begins Jan 31 and ends Feb 14, 2015.
A comprehensive Games Management system, covering all the key functional areas, is being put in place to help run the entire activities of the Games and it includes accreditation of nearly 30,000 participants (including athletes, coaches, managers, officials, volunteers, organizing team members and media persons) to the results management mechanism spanning schedules, draws, results and medals tally at various venues in seven Kerala districts.
A spokesperson of the mega event said the software modules that have been developed is presently undergoing customization and testing.
The system will also be capable of interfacing with timing devices (Timing, Scoring and Results, also known as TSR) and scoreboards at venues for displaying information.
It will also interface graphically with the host TV broadcaster.
Online web publishing and SMS-based publishing of results will also be enabled.
Assessment of hardware and networking components requirement have been completed and procurement is underway.
All IT systems at each venue will be intra-connected through a local area network and inter-stadia connectivity with the central control centre and network management control room will be through a wide area network.
A data centre and 24x7 call centre would also be functional 30 days ahead of the Games.
CMC have a proven track record of sports event management, including the three previous editions of National Games, as well as in other major sporting events.
