Heritage trail to mark Diwali in Singapore's Little India

Singapore, Sep 9 (IANS): A heritage trail taking people through nine stops in the heart of Little India will be launched as part of this year's Diwali celebrations, a media report said Tuesday.

An initiative of the Little India Shopkeepers and Heritage Association, the trail is expected to attract a large number of tourists and locals, The Straits Times reported.

"We planned it to be an experiential tour of the historic district and to encourage people to explore the treasures of Little India," said the association's chairman, Rajakumar Chandra.

Diwali, the most important festival in the Hindu calendar, will be celebrated Oct 23 this year. During this festival of lights, temples and streets in Little India are decorated with streamers and dazzling lights.
