Andhra Pradesh announces Rs.5 crore aid for Kashmir

Hyderabad, Sep 10 (IANS): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu Wednesday announced financial assistance of Rs.5 crore for the flood-hit people of Jammu and Kashmir.

He said the state has sent 300 metric tonnes of ready-to-eat packaged food.

According to a statement from the chief minister's office, 145 metric tonnes of food has already been air-lifted by air force personnel.

The nutritious food, which is made of wheat, chana dal, milk powder, oil and sugar, is uncooked and can be consumed by mixing water.

Naidu lauded the mammoth multi-agency rescue efforts underway in Jammu and Kashmir to rescue people trapped in flood-ravaged areas.

The floods have left about 200 dead.
