Mumbai, Sep 10: Maharashtra Konkan Association celebrated Monti Fest with religious fervor and in Mangalore traditional style at Divine Child School, Amboli, Andheri (West) here on Monday September 8 evening.
Fr Hubert Goveas, parish priest of St Blaze parish, Amboli, Andheri (West) celebrated the festal Eucharistic Mass and delivered the homily. John G Mendonca read the Holy Bible, prayer of the faithful was conducted by Leticia D’Souza and Ida Montiero, Hilda Fernandes, Clara Menezes, Mary Saldanha lead the choir.
Fr Hubert in his homily remembering the words said by the Pope, ‘Christians who do not believe in Mother Mary, they are like an orphan child.’ He also poured his blessings on all the people gathered and said that Mother Mary will bring joy in your life.
“Let her keep you away from all the danger,” he added.
According to the Karnataka Karavali Konkani Catholics tradition, Fr Hubert Goveas blessed the new paddy-sheaves. He also felicitated the donors.
Later formal function was organized and Christian Chamber of Commerce and Industry founder chairman Vincent Mathias and wife Pramila V Mathias, Fr Hubert Goveas, Model Co-Operative Bank Limited director Lawrence D’Souza, Divine Child Nursery director Norman D’Souza were present on the occasion.
Maharashtra State Minority Commission vice president Janet Lawrence D’Souza were felicitated.
Famous singers Henry D’Souza, Victor Conseco, senior lecturer Mary D’Souza, Stanly D’Souza, Sr Julia, Sr Lucy, Sr Veronica and others were also present.
Maharashtra Konkan Association Ambholi president Rocky D’Cunha welcomed the guests, president Leo Fernandes introduced the guests to the gathering. Cyril Castelino compered the programme.
