Gaborone (Botswana), Sep 11 (IANS): Botswana's hopes of qualifying for the 2015 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) diminished as they went down 0-2 to Senegal at the National Stadium here.

This was the 'Zebras' second straight loss in Group G qualifiers after losing the opening match to Tunisia 1-2 Saturday night, reports Xinhua.

Despite a fighting display in front of the home crowd Wednesday night, Botswana found themselves a goal down 10 minutes before the break courtesy a Sadio Mane's strike.

The Southampton striker was cleverly set by Mame Biram Diouf in the 35th minute before eluding the Botswana defence to slot past hapless goalkeeper Modiri Marumo.

Botswana's best chance of the game came in the 56th minute when Jerome Ramatlhakwana broke through in the left flank but shot straight at the goalkeeper.

The home side enjoyed most of the possession in the after the break pushing Senegal into their own half. Botswana however failed to break the Senegalese defence to level the score.

Senegal doubled their score late in the second half to put the game beyond Botswana's reach. Dame Ndoye scored against the run of play after being set up by the scorer of the first goal Mane.

Botswana now face a mammoth task of getting their first win in the qualifiers in an away game to Egypt.
