Lahore, Sep 12: Members of the Taliban, who had shot teenage activist Malala Yousufzai (15) for her open minded views on the lack of education imparted to girls in the country, were today arrested by Pakistan Army. The Army revealed that the men were members of Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) who had attacked Malala in the Swat Valley in Oct 2012.
The assault lodged a bullet in her head and injured the left side of her face down to her shoulders. She gained international recognition due to this and also was able to garner immense support in her fight for education for girls in her country. The arrested gunmen had revealed that the attack emanated from the mastermind and TTP commander Mullah Fazlullah.
The Army said that they had enough help from the local police personnel too in the execution of this operation. The militants are believed to be natives of Malakand which is a neighbour to Malala's village of Mingora. Having survived the attack Malala was brought to Birmingham where she received treatment for her injuries and today continues to live with her family.
