The Konkan Organization of Toronto celebrates Monthi Fest
The Konkan Organization of Toronto (KOT) rolled out the celebrations for our third Monthi Fest in Scarborough on September 06, 2014.
All Konkani speaking people and their friends, more than 400 people, from the Greater Toronto Area, gathered at St. Barnabas Church at 6.00pm for the joyous celebrations of our beloved Mother Mary’s Birthday! The celebrations began with the Holy Mass. The Knights of Columbus led the Celebrants to the altar with honor, splendor and reverence. The KOT was blessed with the presence of His Excellency Archbishop Leo Cornelio, Rev. Bishop EMERITUS Larry Saldanha, Rev. Fr. Francis Noronha, Rev. Fr. Edwin D’Souza, Rev.Fr.Lance Lobo and Deacon Terence Rebello, for gracing this beautiful and joyous celebration of the Holy Eucharist, this Monthi Fest 2014.
The Choir was sensational, they sang their hearts out joyfully and kudos to Joseph Lobo for the singing and conducting. The children brought their gifts - Fruits of the Land that God has blessed us with. The Eucharistic celebrations concluded with a heartfelt ‘Vote of Thanks’ by Teresa Menezes, who also made a humble request to say one ‘Hail Mary’ in honour of Our Beloved Pope Francis for strength to carry out his mission in this world. Yes, all the
Konkan people stormed the heavens, holding hands, raising their hearts and voices in unity and solidarity for Pope Francis. His message to us of how we should live our life, was remembered:
“Weep not for what you have lost, fight for what you have.
Weep not for what is dead, fight for what was born in you.
Weep not for the one who abandoned you, fight for who is with you.
Weep not for those who hate you, fight for those who want you.
Weep not for your past, fight for your present struggle.
Weep not for your suffering, fight for your happiness.
